lady superior "saviors of rock and or roll"

earlier this year i got to work with brothers garret & kyle of lady superior.... to this day it was one of my most rewarding producing experiences... these guys were probably the most talented kids i have ever worked with.. unfortunately i only got to work on two songs with them in the studio before they lost label support. i am currently trying to find them label support so we can finish the record. lady superior takes me back to a time when people cared about writing amazing music..just picture the beatles, led zeppelin, pink floyd coming together to do a record. the two songs i produced "back alley stone" and "jungle of war" are still in heavy rotation on my ipod. one of my best friends who also engineered the sessions drummed on back alley stone, while another one of my bffs dan sneddon of early graves drummed on jungle of war.. the mixes never were finished but i think they sound pretty dam good.. oh yeah we tracked at one of my favorite studios to work at different fur here in sf..so give them a listen on listen!! and have your face officially melted!! let me know what you think!!!

TIGON "purists of the heavy"

some call it hardcore, some call it a noise..i usually call it like i see it, but in this case i called it like i heard it;fucking heavy..in the spring of this year i got the opportunity to record tigon. we had a budget of something like 250usd to record their first ep. so the local sf pro studios were out of reach. i made a couple of phone calls and got in touch with an old acquaintance that had a glorified home studio inside his hundred year old ranch house located in the sticks of california. the gear was laughable, and it took me an 8 hour day to rewire the studio just to get signal into pro tools..although it had it's obvious downfalls, the saving grace of the studio was that the live room which was originally the attic of the house is floor to ceiling perfectly aged pine..the room is one of the most beautiful sounding rooms i have ever been in to this day....we ended up tracking for three days @ what i am gonna call the ranch for now on. we didn't have head phones so everything had to be tracked live (excluding vocals which is another story), all in the same room with no isolation for the guitar and bass amps, or the drums. we also only had like 8 working inputs, which was fine because i felt like the best way to capture and articulate their sound was to be a minimalist with micing.. we had no communication between the live room and the control room , so when i wanted to let them know that they were rolling i would call one of the band members on their the cell phones..but besides all the obstacles we came out with one of the heaviest thrash records in the history of DIY indie rock..but that's only my opinion and who gives a shit..i know its lame and arrogant to say but i produced one of my favorite records of one of my favorite bands..listen to tigon and forget all the bullshit you think you know about music...
